Boutique Citrus is proud to be the suppliers of Australian Finger Limes to Martin Benn, Chef & Patron of Sepia Restaurant. Martin is an incredibly talented chef whose creativity, hard work and vision resulted in 2015 being a year of awards and recognition – both in Australia and internationally.

Martin has been using Finger Limes for many years now, which feature on his menu when in season.  His food is completely unique – beautiful to look at, delicate and totally delicious! Added to his amazing professionalism, we have found him to be a lovely person to work with.  Boutique Citrus is so very thrilled for the opportunity to work with Martin and to see him being recognised for his amazing work. Here’s what Martin had to say about us:

I was first introduced to Greg and Amanda Childe-Freeman of Boutique Citrus a few years back when I was researching for a particular style and colour of native Finger Lime for one of my best known dishes ‘The Pearl’.

As chefs we strive to find the very best, unique produce available to us, from like minded, passionate growers and farmers. Boutique Citrus grows a wide range of Finger Lime varieties which include, Rainforest Pearl (my absolute favourite), Chartreuse, Pink Ice and Emerald – all with that distinct crisp pop and sweet, zingy citrus bite that is truly a taste of Australia.

Boutique Citrus is a customer drive, family business that you can rely on for guaranteed freshness and quality produce every time.’

July 2019 Finger Lime Update

With the coldest of the almost nonexistent Queensland winter weather behind us, the Finger Lime trees in the Boutique Citrus orchard are already bursting with flowers. This slightly early flowering means that the fresh Finger Lime season for 2019/2020 will hopefully start around late November, early December.  For now, we are busy preparing the orchards to ensure that our upcoming Finger Lime yields remain as high as it does each year. We are so proud of our reputation for being the premium Finger Lime producers in the industry. We have...

A Finger Lime Prune Will See Them Boom!

I receive regular questions from a range of people – from back yard gardeners to other farmers, looking for tips and methods that ensure improved Finger Lime growth. One of the key aspects for Finger Lime tree health is regular pruning. At Boutique Citrus, many of our Finger Lime trees are over a decade old – while this means they are fully mature, it also means they need careful attention and a strategic pruning plan in order to maintain tree health and provide us with optimum fruit yield each season. Pruning Finger Limes not only...

Finger Limes Need Water!

Posted by on Sep 15, 2017 in Blog, News | Comments Off on Finger Limes Need Water!

Many people ask us why their Finger Lime tree isn’t producing any fruit. More often than not we see them planted in pots, with incredibly dry soil devoid of any nutrients. There’s no way the plant is going to set fruit when it’s simply just trying to stay alive. Finger Limes especially like a drink and at present, Queensland and a significant part of the East Coast of Australia is in  drought.  Luckily for us, we have two enormous dams that assist us in being able to irrigate our orchards during dry times such as these. With...

The Challenge of Exporting Finger Limes

Posted by on Oct 25, 2016 in Blog, News | Comments Off on The Challenge of Exporting Finger Limes

It was exciting news when the Australian government announced free trade agreements with a range of countries across the globe – especially Asia. We were hopeful that this new legislation would assist us in being able to export the amazing Finger Lime to more places internationally, but one year on and it’s clear that nothing has changed. It seems like the Australian government is simply not interested in showcasing this incredible fruit to the world. We continue to be bound by legislation that restricts our ability to export to...
